| Geoff, Cath and Alex
make up the little family at Karkanya. A biography of each follows.
Geoffrey Manning: Trained as a singer and computer systems architect. Not trained as a Dad (yet). Geoff has spent most of his working life in Canberra in Federal government or with EDS, with short stints training others in the South-East Asia region. Having decided not to take up singing as a career, he does the occasional concert or show (see Geoff's Music Biography).
Of late he has been learning Lego Mindstorms robotics with Alex, and
building Minecraft worlds.
Catherine Rayner: Trained as a theoretical physicist and applied mathematician, Cath has used her mix of science and literary skills to become a science communicator and researcher at the ANU. Having completed a Master of Philosophy researching the history of satellite sensing in Australia she
worked supporting the ANU Chancelry managing a small team of researchers until
the call of research was too strong. Cath is currently a PhD candidate in the
Centre for the Public Awareness of Science.
Alexander Manning: Known as Alex, he is student at Radford College. His
pastimes include playing Viola, participating in string orchestras and a
quartet, Lego robotics (Mindstorms), Minecraft world design and building,
designing computer games and 3D models.
